Property Accountant

Our client, a residential property management company located in HRM, is seeking a talented individual to join their team as Property Accountant.

Reporting to the Controller and Supervisor of Operations, the Property Accountant will be responsible for a large breadth of tasks that focus primarily on the monthly financial accounting of the residential portfolios.

Responsibilities
• Accounts Payable and Receivable functions
• Financial Reporting and General Ledger entries
• Complete reconciliations for various accounts
• Government reporting and remittances
• Monthly HST returns
• Liaise with accountants, Revenue Canada, and community services
• Maintain filing system
• General Administrative duties
• Prepare and distribute correspondence to tenants
• Update maintenance lists
• Produce rental increase communications
• Provide lease packages for new tenants
• Knowledge of the tenancy act in Nova Scotia

The successful candidate will have 3-5 years property management accounting experience, exceptional Microsoft skills, the ability to multi-task and excellent organizational and time management skills. He/She should posses strong communication skills, be able to work independently, be detail orientated and able to handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner.
